we are expanding...

...and not just because of the extra Halloween candy our kids brought home last week.

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated people to help expand our after-school programs. The ideal candidate will have an interest in technology, learning, and how the two can be linked to give kids incredible learning experiences. Our after-school programs are held at schools around the Valley. Each program (video game design, stop motion movies, music videos, creating commercials, action news team, podcast mysteries, and gameshow) consists of six one-hour sessions held right after school.

This is definitely a part-time opportunity and may be perfect for someone in college studying to become a teacher, a former teacher, or even a budding graphic artist or filmmaker.

ages 6-12

We've worked with 13 and 14 year olds, but with consistent feedback from our current customers and potential customers, we have come to realize that our services are best suited to kids between the ages of 6 and 12.

Why is that, you ask?

We have always focused on kids in elementary schools. The programs we have developed work well for kids who are in this age group. The concepts can be scaled to relate to the life of first graders and scaled up to meet the needs of sixth graders. Jumping to 7th and 8th grade - the skills and concepts jump as well. We feel that our services mesh much more fluently with the elementary school kids.

There is interesting discussion within education circles about where 6th graders should be placed (Duke study). In today's fast-paced culture, maybe we should be advocating for kids to be kids.

on location

We are getting back to our initial vision of Digital Kids World. We still want to offer kids a great Summer Camp experience, but during the school year we want to focus more on being a production studio for kids. Our vision is to make DKW a place where kids can gather to be the designers, creators, and producers of digital media.

To accomplish this goal, we are starting with our first On Location shoot next weekend. We will be at the Phoenix Zoo to capture information, photos, and footage of the zoo, the animals, and of some of our very own digital kids.

Once we have the footage, we can review what we have and create content for our website, our new magazine idea, or other projects that spring to mind.

By living our vision, we hope to create a space where the kids of the 21st century can create digital media for their community. If you are interested in joining us on our shoot, please send us an email or give us a call!
